The world of Nature and how it inspires me

Ever since I was a 7 year old child in school and taking part in creating Nature Tables to mark each season , I have had a fascination with Mother Nature and the pure beauty in the colour she provides every month. Trees, wild flowers, snow and the sea always capture my heart.

We were very lucky as children to have a large outside green space covered in a variety of trees, including fir trees, to roam and play in – I couldn’t understand how we should only decorate fir ( Christmas ) trees during the winter – I believed we should also decorate tress in spring and often spent a spring afternoon decorating a living tree with daisy chains, buttercups and other wild flowers.

My dad was born 86 years ago in the home where we lived and the land and garden surrounding our home were steeped in history as our general grocery store and local post office there was once a railway station.
My parents took great pride in growing plants and trees – my favourite is still cherry blossom and a lot of the plants attracted butterflies and various birds.

I also love Water – lakes, rivers and especially the sea- my parents sometimes took us sailing on a small GP 14 sail boat on Lough Muckno and I loved the feeling of the wind and fresh air , it envoked in me a feeling of freedom and I suppose connection with my family and nature.

I can quite easily spend hours gazing at the waves at my local beach in Kilkee . Co Clare – the raw power, changing colours, and the *clear the cobwebs* breeze are all I need to feel refreshed, rejuvenated and ready to take on the world again. The vastness of the ocean and the unlimited sky line always remind me that life is there for us to enjoy, and embrace and that our potential is unlimited !

Staycation Memories from the land of lazy mornings!

So it’s 11 Jan and most of us have completed our first full week back at work. For me it’s been a great week as I re connected with friends and clients after having had a really lovely 2 week *staycation * in the land of lazy mornings, late breakfasts, family time, and soaking up the best irish nature has to offer.
